Founded in 1926 by Vern Gorst (Portland Oregon bus company owner) to carry US mail between Seattle and San Diego. PAT won the government contract for the CAM 8 route in March 1926 and commenced service in September that year. Route included stops at Tacoma, Portland, Medford, San Francisco (Crissy Field), Fresno and Bakersfield. Airline also operated passenger service and eventually was extended to San Diego. In January 1928 Pacific Ait Transport was acquired by Boeing Aircraft Co. through stock buyout retaining all employees. In December PAT became a division of Boeing Air Transport. In May 1934 PAT, BAT, NAT and Varney Air Lines were integrated into United Air Lines which became an airline.
