Airline was formed from defunct Air Florida which was acquired by Midway Airlines and operated as subsidiary of Midway Airlines a low-cost scheduled passenger airline at that time. Midway Express operated flights from Chicago Midway airport to Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Saint Croix and Saint Thomas. Midway Express was integrated into its parent Midway Airlines in 1986.
