Passenger charter and scheduled airline. HNA Group acquired majority stake in the enterprise in February 2001. In November 2007 Xinhua became, together with other HNA Group owned airlines Air Changan and Shan Xi Airlines, part of Grand China Air brand. Its flights were operated with HU code and basic Hainan Group livery. At its peak, airline served 50 cities across China and carried 1.3 million passengers annually with the staff of 1,300.
