Founded as inclusive tour operator, Air Liberte experimented with scheduled service in 1994 between Orly and Gatwick cooperating with British Airways a majority owner at the time. After BA sold its stake, the airline entered domestic scheduled market operating couple of ex Euralair 737-200. AOM French Lines has become majority owner after BA withdrew in May 2000 and since the airlines integrated and new corporate identity AirLib was adopted. French regional carrier Air Littoral was scheduled to join the consortium. AirLib has become largest independent airline in France. It connected French cities with resorts in the Mediterranean and French Overseas territories on scheduled as well as charter basis. In 2001 Air Liberte merged with AOM another French overseas charter operator. AirLib Express ceased operations on February 2003.
