In 2001 Gunnar Olsson founded regional airline Nordic Airlink and started scheduled operations between Lulea and Stockholm. In 2003 Finnair purchased scheduled portion of the airline and remaining charter operations is renamed Nordic Leisure. In 2009 Air Sweden Group purchases Nordic Leisure and the current Air Sweden brand name is adopted. Air Sweden specializes in leisure tour traffic for tour operators. Airline received its AOC in December 2009.
