Scheduled passenger domestic and international airline founded at the end of 1956 in Rosario. ALA commenced air taxi service using 4 Aero Commanders on scheduled service to Buenos Aires. In May 1958 ALA added Douglas DC-3s and C-46s to its fleet and started scheduled operations. Pan American bought 20% stake in the airline in 1962. In the 1960s Douglas DC-6s were added. ALA operated flights in north part of Argentina, Asuncion in Paraguay and Antofagasta in Chile. Austral gradually increased its holdings in the airline. Both airline's network has been integrated by 1968 although they operated flights under their own brands.
