Canada's aerospace conglomerate and third/fourth largest aircraft manufacturer in the world. Bombardier started as snowmobile manufacturer which is still produced and developed. Its aerospace division started in 1986 when Bombardier acquired unprofitable Canadair owned by the government. Bombardier also purchased Short Brothers of Belfast in 1989, De Havilland Canada of Toronto in 1990 and Learjet of Wichita in 1992.
