note
Continental Micronesia was formed as a result of the second Continental Airlines bankruptcy. It was set-up to fly the routes in the Pacific operated by Continental and Air Micronesia; it was 91% owned by Continental and 9% owned by the United Micronesia Development Corporation, the latter being the owner of Air Micronesia. Unlike Air Micronesia, Continental Micronesia acquired its own FAA certificate, although some flights still operated using Continental's FAA certificate. It received route authority on September 14, 1992. The airline began operations using 727s and DC-10s, although these airplanes were eventually replaced by 757s and 737-700s and -800s. The airline eventually merged into United Airlines.
