note
Non scheduled operator founded by Roscoe R Hart and Jack B Lewin to operate trans-continental passenger and cargo flights with low fare compared to the C.A.B. set fares on regular airline routes.
In 1948 CAB, under pressure from scheduled airlines, passed rule where Large Irregular airlines could not operate more than 8 flights per month on the same route and no more than 3 on the most lucrative routes.
Standard and Viking Air Lines merged in 1949 and set up North American Airlines ticketing agency that sold tickets to other Large Irregular airlines like Twentieth Century Air Lines, Trans-American Airways and Hemisphere Air Transport.
