Founded in 1978 by T. Kilroe & Sons Civil Engineering company as a Manchester based executive air charter service based at Manchester airport using Piper Navajo aircraft. T Kilroe & Sons Ltd was founded in 1968 by an Irish immigrant Tim Kilroe In the 1990s company started scheduled operations within UK using BAe Jetstream turboprop aircraft. T Kilroe also purchased Galway based Aer Arran.
Eastern Airways of Humberside acquired Air Kilroe in February 1999 and continues to use its AOC.
