Founded in 1960 when Peruvian government reorganized state owned airline Transportes Aéreos Militares - TAM Peru which was founded in 1946. SATCO has become integral part of Grupo de Transportes 41 of Fuerza Aerea del Peru, SATCO provided transportation service to under-served areas of Peru. In May 1973 government created purely civilian airline Aeroperu largely around SATCO assets.
