Alaska first scheduled all cargo airline founded by Bobby Sholton and Maurice Carlton. Airline commenced operations using C-82 "Flying Boxcars". In 1969 airline purchased its first Douglas DC-6 aircraft giving airline large capacity and proved to be single most important type in airline's history operating well into the 1990s. Airline acquired its first jet a Boeing 727-100 in 1991. Airline remained in the family until bought by Seattle based transportation holding company Saltchuk Resources Inc. in 2006.
