note

Airline got the technical help from Aeroflot which provided it with Ilyushin IL-14 and IL-18s, crews and training. British Government donated 3 DC-3s that flew previously with BEA.
Airline started operations in 1961 serving Bamako - Paris via Marseille, Rabat, as well as neighboring capitals in Ghana, Guinea, Upper Volta and Ivory Coast and domestic destinations. Air Mali became member of IATA.
In 1971 its first jet, a Boeing 727-100, joined the fleet. London Stansted was added to its network.
Airline was not profitable and after one of its Antonov An-24s crashed at Timbuktu in February 1985, government shut Air Mali down.
