Company founded and owned by Arida family started scheduled operations in January 1956 with the help of SABENA. Airline served Milan, Paris and Brussels as well as the Gulf destinations Tehran, Kuwait, Dhahran and Doha using DC-6s and DC-4s leased from Air Liban. LIA helped to re-establish ALIA in 1963 which was previously joint venture of Jordan government and LIA's rival MEA known as Jordan Airways. Company ceased operations after most of its fleet was destroyed by Israeli commando raid on Beirut Airport on December 28th 1968 following a terrorist attack on an El Al airliner. Remaining assets were taken over by MEA in 1969.
