Company was founded as air charter service in Ottawa by Walter Deisher and Barnet MacLaren (whose family ownd logging company) at Uplands Field which is today Ottawa International airport. Company provided flight services to mining and logging industry, but soon started to offer charters for hunters and tourists. LAS became first commercial operator of DHC-2 Beaver in August 1947 and later became one of the largest Beaver operator and, through its BM Aviation subsidiary, rebuilding company in the world. Company also founded several lodges and outfitter companies.
