Regional airline serving southern and central California was founded in Goleta, California, as Apollo Airways, a passenger and cargo charter airline using Beech 18s. Scheduled operations started in October 1975 out of Santa Barbara. San Jose, Sacramento, Oakland, and Las Vegas were served by 1978. In 1981 airline entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It reorganized and, in March 1982, changed its name to Pacific Coast Airlines. By its demise in late 1985, the airline served Lake Tahoe, Los Angeles, Fresno, Monterey, Bakersfield, Santa Barbara, San Jose, and Las Vegas.
