"SAPOL" Servicio Aéreo de Policia - Police Air Service The service was formed in 1983, as a seccional de aviación of the Policía Nacional de Colombia subordinated to the Dirección Antinarcóticos. Some aircraft and helicopters are owned by the US Department of State Air Wing and used in support of drug eradication operations. Today the service operates from 8 bases around the country. In addition to fixed wing aircraft also operates approx 70 helicopters (2012)
