Regional passenger scheduled airline founded in 1972 and based at Montpellier France. Air Littoral connected its hubs of Montpellier and Nice with rest of France including Corsica, Northern Italy and Munich in Germany. Since 1993 airline operated feeder service for Air France. By 2000 SAir Group (parent of Swissair) increased its stake in airline to 49% with the intention of complete take over and integration with other SAir Group french airlines AOM and Air Liberti. 2001 bankruptcy of Swissair left Air Littoral in limbo. SAir Group share was sold to former chairman of the airline Marc Dufor. Airline declared bankruptcy in 2003 as proposed takeovers by Wexford Management (Chautauqua / Frontier) and later Azzura Air did not materialized. Airline ceased operations on February 13th 2004.
