Strategic Airlines is division of Strategic Aviation which provides private jet transport, ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance), wet lease, full charter services, dedicated cargo services, support to Australia's defense efforts in middle east and mining industry. Company was founded by Michael James by taking control of Air Charter Logistics, an air cargo company founded in 1991 that forms basis of its cargo services. Strategic also operated scheduled service for Solomon Air between Brisbane and Honiara. Airline commenced operations in September 2009 after it received its AOC on the 29th. In August 2009 Strategic Airlines acquired French AOC for its European operations. Strategic acquried OZjet in July 2009. On July 6th Strategic acquired Airbus A330 its first long haul wide body jet. In fall 2011, airline changed brand and strategy and new leisure low - cost carrier Air Australia was introduced. The initial service included flights between Brisbane, Melbourne, Darwin and Denpasar, Phuket and Honolulu. Port Hedland was served from Brisbane and Curtin from Perth. Airline ceased operations on February 17th and entered voluntary administration due to financial difficulties.
