Air Irvine began operations as an air-taxi operator. New management took over in March 1982 and the company planned to begin commuter services. It received CAB authority in June 1982. It began operations late in the year operating from Orange County to Los Angeles, Mammoth Lakes, and Palm Springs. The airline was sold in June 1983 and its name was changed to Dash Air. By summer, new flights were added at Ontario, Fresno, Modesto, and Santa Barbara. The airline ceased operations in September 1984.
