note
Sportsflight was formed by Robert Fleming, former president of Fleming International and TPI International Airways, and Viscount Air Service. It planned to operate sports charters with 727s. It received its DOT certificate on June 28, 1994. The company quickly broadened it customer base, and in October 1995 changed its name to Pacific International Airlines. The airline's operations were suspended on July 13, 1996, when its only airplane went to heavy maintenance. In September 1996 the airline was sold to Silver Air Inc., but the airline never resumed operations.
