Formed by BEA and Cyprus Governmet. Operations commenced in October same year with a DC-3 leased from BEA. Airline was the first to use turboprop, a Vickers Viscount 701, on scheduled flight. It was operated in conjuction with BEA from London to Nicosia. In 1975, after Turkish invasion, airline moved its operations to Larnaca.
All operations of the company suspended 09.01.2015
Charlie Airlines relaunched dba Cyprus Airways after winning trademark rights to use the name for 10 years.
