note
Air Resorts began flying in 1980 as an air-taxi operator. It received CAB authority to provide commuter services on October 1982, and it began flying between Burbank, Carlsbad, San Diego, and eventually San Felipe in Baja California. Further expansion included Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Oxnard. In late 1982 it purchased the assets of American Inter-Island, which had been operating St. Croix-St. Thomas service with Convairs. Air Resorts suspended commuter operations in April 1984, but continued to operate charters and contract services. The airline again received approval for commuter operations in February 1989, and began operating flights for Resort Commuter Airlines, which took a 10% interest in the carrier. This operation only lasted until May, and Resort Commuter's interest was sold back to Air Resorts. In April 1990, it again received commuter authority and began flight between San Diego and Tucson in June. It suspended scheduled services on January 22, 1991 after a failed merger attempt with Air LA. In summer of 1992 it again received commuter authority so that it could wet-lease an aircraft to Air Nevada for the summer. It ended the commuter operation after the summer. The airline ceased operations in 1996 and was sold.
