Airline was formed as Business Flyers Basle in 1975 a private air charter and taxi company. Airline adopted Crossair name in 1978 and started scheduled regional airline service in July 1979 from Zurich to Klagenfurt, Innsbruck, Berne and Lugano. Airline expanded its network and formed hub at Basel, Geneva and Zurich.
When Swissair collapsed, Crossair took over their assets and together wth its assets formed new swiss flag carrier - Swiss Air Lines.
