note
World's largest producer of crude oil and natural gas. Company is owned by Saudi government. ARAMCO can trace its history to CASOC - California - Arabian Oil Co. which was founded in 1933 as joint venture of Standard Oil Co. and Saudi government. In 1944, ARAMCO Arab - American Oil Company name was adopted. ARAMCO operated its own airline between April 1947 and January 1961 that ferried passengers and cargo between USA and Saudi Arabia (Dhahran) because of limited availability of commercial flights at the time. Saudi government increased its stake in the company gradually and by 1980 became sole owner. In 1988, company name was changed to Saudi Arabian Oil Company or Saudi Aramco. In May 2023, Saudi ARAMCO separated its aviation department into a separate entity, Mukamalah Aviation Company. In early 2024 it trademarked the name Al Oula Aviation.
