note
Downeast Express was the commuter airline arm of Wiscasset-based Downeast Flying Service. It received its commuter authorization in June 1995 and began service between Portland and Hartford using a Piper Chieftain. It eventually extended from Portland to Rockland and Wiscasset. It also served Albany and White Plains. In July 1997 the airline was sold, moved its headquarters from Wiscasset to Portland, and changed its name to Northeast Airlines. It ended service in 1999.
