Caledonian (Mk II) was founded when British Caledonian was acquired by British Airways in 1988. Its charter division British Caledonian Charter merged with British Airtours to form new Caledonian Airways which retained logo and basic color scheme of British Caledonian but operated only charter flights. In 1996 subsidiary Peach Air was formed to operated flights for Goldcrest. In 1999 Thomas Cook took over Caledonian parent, Carlson Leisure Group, and by March 2000 rebranded operations as JMC Air.
