Wilderness Airline was established in 1959 as a small charter operator utilizing floatplanes from bases at Bella Coola and Anahim Lake, BC. Scheduled service was eventually introduced, initially to Williams Lake and later to Vancouver. Ownership of the airline changed hands several times during its history, most notably in 1975 at which time the airline's legal name was changed to Wilderness Airline (1975) Ltd. The airline was merged into Pacific Coastal Airlines in December 1998.
