Bellview started as IATA approved travel agency in Lagos, Nigeria in 1989. And participated in the repatriation of South African exiles funded by Australia care for refuge (AUSTCARE) between 1990-1991. Two years later, it leased a Russian-built Jet aircraft, a Yakolev 40 with a capacity of 30 passengers, with which she commenced executive charter operations on Octobers 1st. 1992. In 1993 Bellview Airlines commenced scheduled passenger services within Nigeria, using a DC-9-32 series aircraft leased directly from the McDonnell Douglas Corporation. The Airline have grown into market leaders and have been second flagship carriers in the West and central Africa, providing services to fourteen cities: Abidjan, Abuja, Banjul, Conakry, Dakar, Douala, Freetown, Libreville, Lagos, Kano, Monrovia, Port Harcourt and intercontinental services to London-Heathrow . Bellview thus operates in twelve countries, with over 35 daily-schedule flights to 14 cities across three continents of Africa, Asia and Europe. Amongst numerous firsts, Bellview is the first airline to operate Airbus A300-600 aircraft in Nigeria and the first privately owned airline to do so in Africa. Its A300-600R commenced operations to Brazil, India and Kenya on November 21, 1997. From 1998 Bellview commenced flight operations into Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Bellview currently operates with a fleet of five B737-200s and two wide body B767 200ERs. Bellview has commenced with non stop operations between Lagos and London . With the 767-200ERs Bellview Airlines is offering flights to London and Johannesburg . Bellview is the pioneer Nigerian airline in the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Clearing House. She has maintained a computer reservation system for her operations for over decade and hosts Galileo (a leading Global Distribution System), making Bellview Airlines Limited the sole representative of Galileo International in the country. Bellview also hosts IATA's Agency Investigation Panel (AIP) headquarters in West Africa. The airline, again the first in Nigeria, has introduced e-ticketing and e-cargo system with the entire hardware requirement already met, and staff trained, making it possible for passengers to book their flights through CRS of available Global Distribution Networks or the internet, even in homes, private offices and at passengers' convenience.
