Pamir Airways was first private airline founded in Afghanistan. Charter operations commenced in May 1995. In its early years Pamir Airways used Antonov An-12s on domestic routes and a Boeing 707-300. Operations were suspended because of political and security reasons after Taliban took over Afghanistan.
In 2007 Pamir Airways was able to resume operations.
First scheduled service was conducted in May 2007 between Kabul and Dubai using Boieng 737-200 aircraft.
New Delhi, Jeddah and Riyadh were added since. Pamir Airways serves Herat, Faryab, Kandahar, Balkh, Fayzabad, Cheghcheran, Farah and Zaranj on its domestic network.
