note
Swedair was a regional airline absorbed by SAS in 1992. Swedair can trace its history to 1935 when Tor Eliasson founded flight school Svensk Flygtjänst AB. Swedair name was adopted in 1975 when Svensk Flygtjänst and Crownair merged. Although Swedair operated scheduled regional flights under its own brand, it also flew on behalf of Linjeflyg and SAS both of which were stake holders. Sweden government owned 50% of the company. This enabled Swedair to secure contracts as diverse as maritime patrol, aerial photography, air ambulance, navaid calibration and target towing. All these services were available for charter in Sweden and abroad. In 1981 Swedair acquired Basair an executive charter airline founded in 1959 giving the company full spectrum of aviation services.
Swedair also developed technical expertise in modification of light aircraft like Cessna Conquest. It had maintenance facilities at Bromma, Malmo and Vasteras.
