Airline was founded in 1995 by Gromov Flight Research Institute as wholly owned commercial subsidy based at Moscow's Zhukovsky airport. In 2006 airline was rebranded to Moskovia Airlines. In 2009 Moskovia operated scheduled passenger flights from its base at Moscos Domodedovo to Ganja in Azerbaijan, Tivat and Podgorica in Montenegro and Samarkand, Buchara, Fergana, Termez and Namangan in Uzbekistan. Moskovia also operated charter flights to Europe and Middle East. In October 2009 airline received its first Boeing 737-800 aircraft formerly with SAS.
