State owned airline formed from Aeroflot 235 Flight Unit, which became STC (State Transport Company) based in Moscow in 1992. In June 2000 airline became a member of IATA. In October 2006 STC acquired Pulkovo Avia, a state owned airline based at Pulkovo airport in St. Petersburg. In 2008 Rossiya name was adopted. Airline has become largest state owned aviation enterprise in Russia. Its network is concentrated in Northwest regions of Russia and airline captured 40% of St Petersburg airline market handling close to 3 million passengers annually. It also operates long-haul flights to Vladivostok, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovks, Petropavlovsk-Kamtchatsky, Irkutsk and Beijing, Larnaca, Tel-Aviv, Hurgada, Dubai and Sharm el Sheikh are served in the Middle East as well as most European and former CIS capitals. Appears to have taken over the high density ex Transaero and Orenair licences for IT business and some of the ex Transaero and Orenair fleet as of Mar 2016
