Scotland's low-cost no frills scheduled passenger airline commenced operations in April 2003 using Boeing 737-300 aircraft. Airline was founded by Globespan Group an Edinburgh based travel agency and tour operator.
Airline operated flights from Scotland and other points in UK to destinations in Europe, North America and Africa. Destinations in France and Italy were offered first. In 2005 flights to London Stansted commenced. In November the same year flights from Glasgow to Orlando marked beginning of long-haul operations for FlyGlobespan followed by New York and Hamilton in Canada. In 2006 airline also operated scheduled service to Cape Town.
Airline has been profitable in its early years. Since 2007, airline faced in the words of management "Liquidity problems". This culminated in airline being forced to shut down all operations on December 16 2009 and company has been put into administration. Airline has no plans to resume operations and will be liquidated.
