note
Air Canada Regional Inc. was formed as a subsidiary of Air Canada to consolidate the regional carriers. It began operations on December 1, 2000 by merging with Air Nova. The remaining Air Canada owned carriers, Air Ontario, AirBC, and Canadian Regional, were brought into the fold on January 1, 2001. Combining the airlines took several months, flight operations were merged on July 20, with the "Transcan" callsign adopted; the entire consolidation was completed in late March 2002 . On April 1, 2002, the Air Canada Regional carriers began operating under the single brand, Air Canada Jazz. Air Canada Regional Inc. changed its name to Jazz Air Inc. on May 17. Air Canada filed for bankruptcy on December 2, 2003. As part of corporate restructuring, Jazz Air became Jazz Air Limited Partnership on September 30, 2004. In early 2006, Air Canada's parent spun off Jazz Air Limited Partnership in an IPO, and the new corporate identity became Jazz Air LP on February 2, 2006. In 2010 parent Jazz Air Income Fund LP elected to convert to a corporation, Chorus Aviation Inc., and the conversion was completed January 4, 2011. Subsidiary Jazz Air LP became Jazz Aviation LP. Shortly thereafter, Air Canada elected to change its regional branding as other carriers were being tapped to operate regional services. On June 1, 2011 Air Canada Jazz became Air Canada Express.
