UGA QU Uganda Airlines Uganda Uganda

note

Uganda Airlines operated from its hub at Entebbe International Airport. Established in 1976 as a replacement for East African Airways, the airline launched operations in 1977, initially taking over routes operated by Uganda Aviation Services. By the late 1970s, it expanded to international destinations, inaugurating flights to Brussels, London, and Rome with its first Boeing 707-320C aircraft.

In the 1980s, Uganda Airlines grew its network with routes to Cairo, Cologne, Dubai, and various East African destinations, including Dar es Salaam and Nairobi. The fleet expanded to include Fokker F27s, a Lockheed L-100-30, and other smaller aircraft to support regional and international services.

Financial difficulties in the 1990s, driven by mismanagement and deficits, led to failed privatization attempts. The government liquidated the airline in May 2001.
