Polar Airways was a short-lived British airline based at Teesside Airport. MME/EGNV Operating Vickers Viscounts , leased fron BAF Polar Airways was founded in 1982 and began operations on August 6, 1982 with the Vickers Viscount 802 G-AOHT, which was leased from British Air Ferries. The first charter flights took the aircraft to Düsseldorf, followed by almost regular cargo charter flights on behalf of British Midland Airways between East Midlands Airport and Maastricht. The last commercial flight took place on 20 April 1983, between Ostend and the East Midlands. On 21 April, Polar Airways ceased operations under pressure from its creditors.
