National Jet began operations on July 1, 1990 operating flights to Northern Australia as Australian Airlink using BAe 146s. The flights continued to operate as QantasLink after Qantas acquired Australian. The company added Boeing 717s in 2005. In 1999 National Jet was acquired by Cobham plc. Cobham plc was acquired by Advent International in 2020, which sold the Qantaslink operation to Qantas. Advent continues to operate the charter services division of Cobham.
