Established by government decree, airline started operations as a cargo carrier to Europe. First passanger flight was conducted in September 1992 between Saigon and Taipei. Currently, airline serves Ha Noi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Hong Kong, Taipei and Kaohsiung abroad. Airline conducts Cargo, Scheduled and Charter passanger flights and air taxi services. In May 2008 Pacific Airlines changed its business model to become regional low cost carrier part of Jetstar Llc of Australia. Qantas, owner of Jetstar purchased 18% stake in Pacific Airlines which should increase in future. In February 2012, Vietnam Airlines purchased an 80% stake in Jetstar Pacific, increasing to 98% in 2020. The airline reverted to the Pacific Airlines name in 2020.
