Company can trace its roots to Cree nation air charter company Little Red Air Service founded in 1986. LRAS provided ad hoc charter and MEDEVAC flights to Cree nation at first but its customers soon included other communities government agencies in northern Alberta. In 2004 LRAS set up Nor-Alta Aviation leasing company to enable its expansion. Nor-Alta acquired Little Red Air Service in 2006. In 2015 Nor-Alta purchased Can-West Corporate Air Charters founded in 1988 in La Crete AB and assumed its name.
