Charter airline owned by Robert Obadia through his holding company Nolisair. It operated seasonal charter from Canada to Europe, Caribbean, Florida and Latin America. It also provided ACMI leases for other carriers around the world. Canada's worst aviation accident occured in July 1991 when Nationair's Douglas DC-8 operating on contract for Nigeria Airways crashed shorlty after takeoff from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 261 people lost their lives including 15 memeber Canadian crew. It was later revealed that the aircraft was not airworthy at the time of crash and Nationair doctored documents to hide it. Company image suffered, labor disputes, debt and poor technical performance all contribute to difficult financial situation. Airline went bankrupt in May 1993 and its owner was charged with eight counts of fraud.
