note
Founded as regional charter and air taxi. Alliadriatica acquired first jet in 1994 a 737-200 and began scheduled operations in Italy. Aliadriatica changed its name in 1995 to Air One. Air One name is a play on Italian word for a heron - airone. Air One operates scheduled and charter flights throughout Italy as well as Europe. It operates its flights in partnership with Lufthansa. Airline grew steadily and became Italy's second largest. After new holding company was created for bankrupt Alitalia called Compagnia Aerea Italiana, Air One was also acquired by CAI in December 2008 and has become Alitalia's charter arm and was integrated into Alitalia. In March 2010, Air One brand was resurrected as Alitalia's low cost subsidiary. New Air One operates low cost flights from Milan Malpensa to Sardinia, Sicily, Southern Italy, Albania, Baleares, Tunis and Cairo.
