Scheduled and charter passenger and cargo airline founded by group of Somali ex patriots entrepreneurs lead by Mr. Said Nur Qalinle who became general manager. It functions as Somalia's national carrier. Somali Airlines suspended service when the civil war started in 1991 and never resumed service.
With the resumption of fighting in Somalia in 2008 airline moved its headquarters to Nairobi Kenya in 2009.
