Founded after BA announced suspention of flights from Plymouth and Cornwall to Gatwick. Airline is owned by Sutton Harbour Holdings Plc, the owner of Plymouth airport and harbour. Airline took over BA Citiexpress flights without interruption on October 26 2003. In 2007 Air Southwest carried over 300,000 passengers. Airline serves points in UK including London City, Glasgow, Jersey, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle. Dublin and Cork are served in Ireland and in 2008, airline launched its first route to continental Europe by serving Grenoble in French Alps. In 2010 regional airline Eastern Airways purchased Air Southwest. However, because the demand on its Plymouth and Newquay routes fell beyond economic feasibility, company decided to shut down all scheduled operations by the end of September of 2011.
