Gunes Ekspres Havacilik A.S. is a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa which commenced operations in April 1990. Lufthansa transferred its ownership to its charter subsidiary Condor, but eventually transferred it back to Lufthansa Group. The airline started as all inclusive charter airline, but ventured into low cost scheduled domestic and international operations out of its hub in Antalya, Izmir and Istanbul to numerous airports in Turkey, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland and Scandinavia. In 2008 airline employed over 600 people and carried over 4 million passengers.
