Avior Airlines was founded in 1994 to provide service to the Petroleum Industry and tourism in the eastern provinces using Cessna 337 and Aero Commander 500S piston aircraft. The airline soon upgraded to turboprop powered Cessna 208 Caravans, Embraer 120s and Beech 1900 C and Ds. Major expansion started in 2003 when Avior introduced Boeing 737-200 jets. Another major expansion started in 2013 when Avior introduced Boeing 737-400 and Fokker 50 in Avior Regional subsidiary, in 2016 Avior introduced the first of six Airbus A340-300. These fleet are are used on scheduled domestic and international network connecting Aruba, Barcelona (Venezuela), Barinas, Bogota, Caracas, Curazao, Guayaquil, Lima, Manaus, Maracaibo, Medellin, Miami, Panama City, Porlamar, Puerto Ordaz, Valencia (Venezuela) and Valera. Avior Airlines handles circa 1,000,000 passengers in 2016.
